Uhhhh.....WUT?! 🤦‍♂️Literally the only good thing about this ep was TS's hat. I'm all for changes that make sense or even improve on the very flawed novel, but the donghua's are once again ridiculous.

1. With only 22? eps left, they're spending too long on invented BS that never happened.
2. In the novel, BBD was hit with TS's Purple God Light from 2km away and nearly killed her. She was incapacitated for half a month. If Hu Liena x Xie Yue had taken PGL their heads would instantly explode. Neither of them even made it to Spirit Sage (afaik) and are ANTS compared to the current TS, who was killing bands of Spirit Sages before he even had his 6th ring. Completely ridiculous.
3. Yang Wushuang's Seven Colors Poison was used on the emperor not this battlefield, nor was it disseminated by this stupid Bee Sect. Even worse, it steals Poison Douluo's thunder near the end.
4. Bee Sect leader walking away from TS's 1001 Nights with barely a scratch? GTFO

Which is why I dont post much comparisons from the novel, no point any more. Novel readers will know what I mean, non novel readers wont understand and will praise the graphics without knowing the background behind certain scenes which makes the story better. I feel they gain less enjoyment, sure they will enjoy the episode but it wont be as much if the studio followed the novel

Even for someone who hasnt read the novel, this felt more like a filler episode due to the focus on the back story of Wu Shuang. I can understand why novel readers are upset about the changes and it makes it difficult to follow as it probably seems like a different story now.

I havent watched the episode. from reading what Douluo wrote, I can imagine, someone never appearing in the novel pops out, and a significant amount of time is spent on it, yeah definitely a filler episode, just like the Qian Renxue and that rabbit tooth guy scene.

While I do not have an opinion about fillers, if it helps the story and plot, I am for it, if it is just to drag the event out, then no. We only have 21 episodes left, and personally I feel they should have fleshed out the character developments a bit more, instead of trying to wow the audience of special effects and shiny bright lights, much like shining a headlight at a deer

I doubt Einstein would waste his time with anything that would rot his brain and would be too busy running around like a child in a toy house enjoying the technological advancements in all sciences since his demise. You don't have to read a novel to have a strong feeling about it... Wu Shuang is at best a background character who will most likely be forgotten in a couple of episodes, yet they put too much emphasis on sharing more information about him than was needed.

And I’m not even comparing it with the novel anymore, I’m sure anyone who has been with DD since Day 1 can see that the current events go against everything the donghua has been portraying.

Agreed, it isn't worth the effort anymore. Even the novel became horribly puzzling/inconsistent with regard to ring age vs cultivation level, but the donghua is next level, the lower kind...They've decided to perma-nerf TS beyond recognition. Since I’m on a replying spree, then just let me give you the answer to this. I’m sure @Douluo won’t mind.

So let’s get down to the technical bits. TS has this ability called controlling crane catching dragon where he can pull objects with his soul power but that has a distance restriction (2km at his current level).

At this point, TS cannot call the trident at will, because he’s not the SeaGod yet. The donghua changed and switched around or nerfed TS’s abilities a lot since their return from Sea God island. In the novel, the trident only becomes “part” of him when he becomes Sea God and he can embed it on his forehead but in the donghua, he already can do that when Shrek saved the day at the alliance between the two empires event. This is one of the examples that makes the flow and the logic of the story disjointed because observant viewers like yourself will wonder, “wait.. didn’t he have this xxx ability and why can’t he do it…”

Also changed was this PGL ability during his fight with Bo Saixi. In the novel, TS has zero chance against Bo Saixi who is even more powerful than BBD even they are both at level 99. The ONLY thing that he has that can equalise him with Bo Saixi is this PGL as his spiritual/mental power has reached the same as Bo Saixi at level 99. To simplify it (during that Sea God test):
TS:
Soul Power = 85
Spiritual Power (that includes his boundless level PGL) = 99
Bo Saixi:
Soul Power: 99
Spiritual Power: 99

Another throwback: remember when TS first absorbed the skull spirit bone and his dad Tang Hao was shocked when TS could see the peak of the snowy mountain? At that time, even TH commented that his son’s spiritual power must have reached level 80 in order to be able to do that.

That’s why @Douluo and I (and some others) are so outraged that the production team decided to go against the very logic of the cultivation system and to nerf the most powerful ability of TS.

I would start at chapter 216, when they are about to step foot on Sea God Island, the studio started to make changes there and also it is during the covid lockdown that affected their episodes, not to mention that there were quite a number of contents removed. You will enjoy the Sea God arc more than the actual episodes you have watched

Needless to say you will also understand the background behind the Shrek Seven's new skills and rings a bit better

i base my knowledge on the manga and i'm very sure tang-sans first teacher told him 'those that reached soul rank 90+ don't age, which is why everyone wants to become a titled doulou as early as possible'.
there is always the possibillity that it was miss translated, but i'm quite sure everythings right.

possibly it is but id trust novel over manga any day any time, seeing as manga often dumb it down for the younger audiences and to target the younger audiences so the facts may be altered for the younger people and for retail purposes.
as for why everyone wants to become titled doulou its because all titled doulou leave a name at the doulou shrine which is the highest sacred place in all the land. (according to the first or second episode when it explains the titles given to soul power level).

I say it would would have been a lot hell a better if the damn creator made the Trident similar to Thor's hammer when he calls it, no matter where it is and no matter how stuck it was, it will always come to him. If San was able to do that with the Trident then he could just b Infront of the enemies base and hold out his arm and hand, and call for it like Thor does with his hammer. But sadly the creator had to do extra work and make it to where the MC have to sneakily go into the enemies base and retrieve it himself and hopefully not get caught.

I’ve read some novels with war strategy in it, they can be intriguing but boring since there is a lot of politics and secret power plays. It makes sense why some wars last years especially if both sides have good strategists, even food and supply becomes vital part in strategy. So I guess they chose to focus on graphics here but it would be boring, it will need a good story writer to not make it boring.

I understand why those who read the novel have a hard time watching this donghua, I remember watching movies made from novels I’ve read and the scenes were changed or certain characters were removed and it simply contradicted with what I knew, so I won’t judge novel readers I understand why they complain. Personally after watching other donghua’s soul land has 8.7 rating on my end, the best donghua I have watched so far is Fanren which I personally rate 9.9, I enjoyed every moment of it. I will assume they reduce Tang San’s power along with Bi Bi Dong to make them look less omnipotent while hyping other characters, it is a sh’tty move but I think I can get it… but than again I have a lot of patience, Soul Land is not the most frustrating donghua I’ve watched so I can still tolerate it but I get why Novel readers can’t.
